Harvard Commencement Live
Jun. 5th, 2008 10:26 amThanks to Harvard's Commencement today, I don't have to go to the office!
So I am sitting at home, high and dry, watching the Harvard Commencement's morning exercises live online at http://www.harvard.edu/ It's also on local cable in Cambridge on Ch. 54 or Boston/Brookline 12.
I've seen the regalia, heard the fabulous Latin oration about how graduating from Harvard is like winning the Boston Marathon, the English oration about making a difference, and the Graduate English oration by a West Point alum/Iraq veteran studying at the Kennedy School about making war no more. Now they are conferring degrees, school by school. Most of this is probably too tedious except for those of us who "love a good Commencement."
But you might want to tune in this afternoon. The broadcast from Tercentenary Theater starts about 1:30 pm, and then sometime between 2:15 pm and 4 pm, a certain author from England, who wrote those "Harry Potter Books"...J.K. Rowling will be speaking.
