Yankee Lobster Fish Market, Boston, MA
Nov. 6th, 2010 07:25 pmWe had a lovely early dinner at the Yankee Lobster Fish Market, out on Northern Ave. in the Seaport Area of Boston, near the Black Falcon terminal. There's free parking along side. I'd never heard of it but was doing a google search for lobster places to take a friend coming in from out of town, and it popped up. It was hard to tell what it was like, but it looked good, fast and cheap, so I made an exploratory expedition today. I am looking for "chowder, lobster or lobster dishes, great beer selection, and casual."

You order at the counter. It really is a fish market with a few tables. They take your name and call out to you when the food is ready and bring it over to the table for you.
I got to taste clam chowder, coconut shrimp, fried shrimp, baked bay scallops, then the $24.95 special - 2 lb lobster (corn on the cob, fries & slaw). May have been the best lobster I've ever eaten. So fresh and sweet! And the scallops were a revelation - fresh, perfectly cooked with yummy bread crumbs. Great chowder and lobster, but only average beer selection (according to friend) and weird little dining room. More of a fish market than a real restaurant. So not the answer for most tourists. But great for a very casual early Saturday supper. Will keep trying lobster places. Awww, shucks. Maybe the Daily Catch next. Any other ideas?
