I walked around the brand new Market in the Square in Harvard Square today. I think they opened on Tuesday. It's at the corner of Brattle and Church, where Sage's Market was for years. It's an interesting mix of salad bar, hot food bar, sushi bar, deli and convenience store in a Cambridge way. There are a few seats in the buffet area, but it looked like most people were taking out back to their offices. So nice to have something good on that corner again!

I tried the buffets - great to have a tiny taste of a bunch of items. They charge $6.99/pound.

Hot buffet
General Gao's chicken, lo mein, a barbecued sparerib, turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes. They also had a lot of other items like baked salmon, fried rice, roasted chicken.

Cold buffet
Watermelon, avocado salad, caesar salad, and something called spaghetti salad (really just cold spaghetti with parmesan on top). There were several other special salads and lettuces and sliced fruit.

Drinks
Wide range - I got the Inko's Cherry Vanilla White iced tea

Bakery
I picked up a bunch of cream cheese brownies to take back to the office.

Deli
Nice selection of wraps, panini and sandwiches with macaroni salad cartons and so forth.

Grocery area
It wasn't quite ready yet, with empty shelves here and there, but a nice selection of upscale cookies and chocolate and chips and fresh veggies.

Prices
High, but in line with other places in the Square or convenience stores.

I look forward to going once in a while to get a break from the cafe in my building. I don't get out of the office at lunch time once a month, and now I've been out two days in a row. And I didn't get rained on!
