Torchwood moments

N. and I watched all five episodes of Torchwood's Season 3 over the weekend. It worked to watch them one after the other at our own pace, instead of one per night (as they were shown last week in the U.K.).

I never know what's a spoiler, so I'll tuck the rest of my thoughts away under the cut.

I was riveted by the first two episodes - creepy and action-packed. Then increasingly horrified. And finally mad at them slamming the door so hard on any new episodes without contortionist plot spin.

I usually focus on Jack, but I find that the moments sticking with me this time are Ianto's. I loved the lowered glance and shy smile when he fessed up to his sister, saying "he is awfully good looking." And the way he stood up for himself with "OY! It's not 1965 anymore." And the way he chided Jack for not being honest with him, even if asking Jack to reveal everything important in his past is silly, given the volume of Jack's past. The rescue with the forklift was a hoot.

I adored the way they fleshed out a lot of the secondary characters, making Ianto's family and Lois and Frobisher's assistant into people and not just stereotypes.

I loved Lois' line, "I'm a PA. It's what I do" when she provides them with everything they'll need and the phone number of the contact. I resemble that remark.

Gwen was incredibly competent in this one. Love that.

I adore Jack's coat. And he is awfully good looking.

I despise it when major characters are killed off just to show that they can. Blech.

I wish they wouldn't diss Wales so much, but I gather that's de riguer for British TV.

Did they ever explain the alien liquid expulsions?
