The end of an era

Thanks for the input on whether to cancel my Boston Globe delivery subscription. Seems like almost no one is getting it daily anymore.

So I am scaling back to Sunday delivery only...I'll keep the coupons and the comics and Parade and maybe a little Sunday Globe magazine now and then. I am pretty sure I won't miss it. And I definitely won't miss hauling the piles of papers to the recycling bin. It will be great to have the extra money every month.

But it does feel like the end of an era...this will be the first time in my entire, rather lengthy, life that I won't have the paper on the doorstep every day.

I haven't cancelled my daily Globe subscription yet but I sure have thought about it over the past few months. I've had at least one daily paper delivered to every place I've ever lived since I was an infant, so that's not an easy habit to break. Daily papers I've read over the years:

Memphis Commercial Appeal
Chicago Sun-Times (my grandma bought my mom a mail subscription for many years)
Akron Beacon Journal
Cleveland Plain Dealer
Columbus Dispatch
Columbus Citizen-Journal (defunct)
Boston Globe
Los Angeles Times
Santa Monica Evening Outlook (defunct)
