Doctor Who fans day

Today I stepped into Spring...warm, sunny...bliss! It was nearly 50 degrees!
We had breakfast at the hotel. It was okay, but rather sad. In the past, there was an amazing buffet and the lobby had a lovely Southern garden theme. Now it's "updated" to a stark, Scandinavian motif. They put in a Starbucks. You can order breakfast...all completely ordinary combos. I had 2 fried eggs, bacon, toast and home fries. Perfectly serviceable, just not the decadence I'd had in mind. We sat in the booth with our own flat screen that only showed one channel - local news. Hunh.
We relaxed for a bit, then headed over to meet up with the gang of Doctor Who fans. Unfortunately, one of the hosts was sick, and another one had to take her off to a doctor, so we were left to hold the fort with two strangers. But in true Doctor Who spirit, we had lots to talk about and they were interested in hearing N's radio projects, and we had a fun time going for Mexican food at El Mariachi without our hosts! I had an amazing seafood omelette with shrimp, scallops and a creamy sauce inside. N had a yummy queso with chorizo, and the cerviche. http://www.elmariachirestaurant.com/
We went back to the house to hang out. We talked about the threat of the common desert truffle, and then went out for Chinese food. There were nine of us by that time. We had a big round table with a lazy susan and shared lots of different dishes. You can see our table on their web site! http://grandfusionrestaurant.com/index.htm
The corn chicken soup and shrimp toast were special, though I found everything a bit too greasy. I had a great chat with an opera singer who just recorded an album of tenor arias with the London Philharmonic!
I often hang out for a couple of hours, then can't take the geeking anymore, but I managed to hang with the crowd the entire time! Wheee!
