New eats in East Cambridge

bex77There's a new restaurant two blocks from my house that looks like a keeper!
It's called East Side Bar and Grille
561 Cambridge Street, Cambridge, MA 02141
Open for lunch and dinner.
Opened last Sunday. From the menu posted in the window, I thought it might be a pizza joint, but upon going inside, I realized it is a more upscale restaurant, with cloth napkins and silverware and sconces. The front room has a full bar all down one side, then there is a dining room in the back. The prices are very reasonable.
The waitress was very helpful and patient as we took our time figuring out the menu.
We tried the
- Crab Cake martini $6.95
Eight crab cake nuggets in a martini glass on a bed of shredded lettuce with roasted red pepper aoili sauce on the side
- Buffalo Shrimp $7.95
Breaded fried shrimp tossed in buffalo sauce served with celery & carrot sticks and bleu cheese dressing
- Side of Onion rings $2.50
- Caprese Salad $8.95
Large slices of fresh tomato, fresh mozzarella, basil drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette
The sodas/iced tea were $1.95, but the glasses were large and refilled for free!
I was also tempted by the warm spinach artichoke dip, the calamari or the stuffed mushrooms.
They also have pizza, salads, burgers, steak tip dinners, bbq chicken, various pastas including angel hair or
gnocchi not usually seen in smaller restaurants.
They are only taking cash right now. That was the only indication that they haven't been open long-term...everything ran very smoothly.
I counted down the menu, and I think it will take me 6 visits or more to try all the things that tempted me. So if you want to have dinner out near my place, let me know!
