American food?

When I say "American food" what comes to mind?

I've been charged with providing refreshments for the Inauguration viewing lunch/party at work on Tuesday, and I'm having a mental block. Sure, there's the old "hots dogs, baseball and apple pie" but there must be more or better ideas than that. Help!

Apparently Barack Obama lived near Ball Square for a while, and regularly bought stuff at Lyndells. During the campaign, Lyndell's provided half-moons to the Obama campaign, and there's a rumor that they're sending some to the Inauguration. So you should definitely have some Lyndell's half-moons at your party.

I can think of a lot of weird options, but seriously, I'd go with barbeque. There's really nothing else like it, it's extremely American (god, I missed it while I was in Europe) and there are decent options for getting it brought to your office. (Blue Ribbon does cater...)

That green bean casserole with mushroom soup and fried onions on top. I have never encountered it in Canada, it appears to be exclusively American. And you can have it!

English muffins, French toast and Canadian bacon. These are unknown in England, France and Canada, respectively.
