One dog night

I went on an adventure out to the Barnes & Noble book store in Framingham this evening. Despite taking Rte 128 and the Mass Pike at rush hour, I got there in just over 30 minutes!
I went to a hear Jon Katz, my favorite blogger http://blog.bedlamfarm.com/ talk about his latest dog book, “The Soul of a Dog” http://www.amazon.com/Soul-Dog-Reflections-Spirits-Animals/dp/1400066298 . But the main point (please don’t tell my cat!) was to see his dog – Izzy, the border collie who does hospice work. I was really glad that his book tour brought him to the Boston area this year so I didn't have to make another 4-hour pilgrimage to Manchester, VT!
I bought the book, then got a quick chai and sandwich from Starbucks. They had set up about 50 chairs in an aisle next to the crossword puzzle books, so I took an aisle seat in the back. Just after 7 pm, in rolled Jon with Izzy. The store's event booker introduced Jon, who talked about his book for about 30 minutes, then took questions for almost an hour! He introduced his new girlfriend, Maria, who was standing at the back.
Izzy made the rounds of the audience, letting people pet him. I got several bad photos with my phone.

I hung around chatting with other fans and watching them fawn over Izzy. I was one of the last to get my book signed. I got to chat with Jon for a few moments. He is always so gracious. Not sure I could do that after a long day.
I managed to make my way through the maze of Shopper's World and get home in record time, happy to have had another moment of personal connection with a blogger I read every day.
