People always argue with me when I say I shouldn't cook. But really...I can't even boil water without causing a disaster.

I was trying to be good and eat at home and cook something last night. I was trying to boil water. Yup...just boil a pot of water to cook spicy sausage ravioli. So I put the water in the pot and added a little salt, covered it, set it on the back burner and turned the burner on high. The front burner. With the metal burner cover on top of it. And went to check my email.

About five minutes later I smelled something burning and rushed into the kitchen. The front burner cover was black and distended. There was smoke coming out of the other burners. I turned off the front burner and gingerly lifted the burner cover with a knife to discover that the tin foil that covered the front burner basin was MELTED. I managed to melt tin foil!

I tamped down my horror long enough to boil the water and make supper. I just couldn't face scrubbing the stove after that, so I did that this morning. I love trying to clean my stove before breakfast. NOT.

The white stove top around the burner seems permanently stained/burnt. I tried oxy-clean and scrubbing bubbles. If anyone has any other ideas on how to get burn stains off a stove, speak up.

I think I'll have pop tarts for supper. We'll see what trouble I can cause with the toaster...*sigh*

:( I myself have caused pain and suffering to many Teflon pans and a microwave oven. Not to mention what happened when I tried to make bread pudding for my mom's bday one year.
