Hanging up on Presidents

As you may have heard, there's a special election in Massachusetts on Tuesday to fill Ted Kennedy's Senate seat. It can't be over soon enough!

People are saying it will be close, so both sides are throwing money away on attack ads and visits by big name pols. And robo-calls. Lots and lots of phone calls.

Now, I don't use the phone much. I am mostly an email creature. And I have a friend in the hospital. So the only personal calls I've been getting have been from the hospital staff. So every time the phone rings, I think something has happened to her. I try to tell myself that's silly, but the adrenaline kicks in anyway. So when it's a blasted political call, I am not happy. I've had about a dozen calls over the past couple of days from the campaigns, unions, local pols and even two Presidents! Of course, my response is to slam down the phone. I've hung up on both Bill Clinton and Barack Obama in the past two days!

Besides the calls from 'Bill Clinton' and 'Barack Obama', today I also got an automated poll call from some group called 'National Organization for Marriage', asking whether I agreed that marriage should be only between a man and a woman.

I am so glad none of my phones appears to be on their list.

One of them is on some lists in Connecticut, however, which can occasionally be amusing.

My sympathies.

Afraid I missed good ol' Bill this time around. Of course, he's just spent so much time in Mass. that of course he knows what's best for us, just like hed did in the primary and in the Boston mayoral election.
