Rolling home
Mar. 8th, 2010 09:11 pmToday was hours and hours of driving. It was a gorgeous day to do it - sunny, 50's all along the way.
I woke up early...a good thing, since I had to do the payroll online for work before we left the hotel, and their wifi was SLOW.
We grabbed a quick breakfast. The combination of breakfast items we usually get for $10.77 at the McD's in Cambridge only cost $9.60 in NJ! We gassed up at cheapo NJ prices ($2.59!) We got on the NJ Turnpike at 9:30 am.
Timeline
9:30 am Leave Exit 3 NJ Turnpike
10:30 am Made it to the Garden State
11:30 am going over the Tappan Zee Bridge
Note: It only takes 20 minutes on the Saw Mill River Parkway. It's not as interminable as you think.
12:00 pm Crossed into CT
12:30 pm Waterbury, CT
1:30 pm Rein's Deli, Vernon, CT
We picked up lunch at our favorite deli. I adore their herring with onions in cream sauce. And a reuben sandwich. And a Doctor Brown's cherry soda! They also make a great fruit salad. And N. loves their chili.
3:30 pm Made it home
It was a quick trip today - only 6 hours! Once again, heavy traffic, but it moved along.
Sherlock gave us a lengthy run down of his adventures with the cat sitter, and an expletive-filled lecture about leaving him alone. Heh.
I collapsed for a nap.
It is so good to be home!
