Tomes of Terror III thoughts
Oct. 13th, 2008 09:32 amTraveling around the countryside this weekend, running errands with N. for his Halloween radio show, it's hard to say what people found most interesting about the upcoming trilogy. We had a great time talking about the show with the folks at a yard sale in Arlington, explaining what their doorbell or office trays would be used for. And we ran into several Taf folks at Honk! who were excited about seeing people they'd worked with in the past doing something new.
Most people are intrigued by the idea of live sound effects...especially using ordinary everyday items to make sounds they weren't designed to make. Some fans of Garrison Keeler want to see what a performance of radio looks like. Almost everyone is excited when they hear "Tell Tale Heart" will be one of the plays...often responding with "lub-dub, lub-dub" and an eery laugh. Older folks giggle when you say we're doing a comedy "Baby Snooks" because they remember Fannie Brice or the hilarious hijinks of the little girl and her father. Others are interested in the romance and adventure of a fox hunt with a twist. And live music...that's another group of fans. Of course, folks who've been to past shows of PMRP or Theatre@First are interested to see what their favorite actors and directors are up to now. And the Somerville contingent are eager to hear more of Tom Champion, without the threat of snow.
So I hope you'll make a reservation now for one of the four shows Oct. 29-Nov. 1 at http://www.pmrp.org
and join us to see what it is about this Halloween show that you'll love.
